Hi David,
I see you're running Unraid on a Z590i board with your upgraded I7-11700K. The TDP is listed at 125W, but it can increase during heavy loads. You're looking to reduce the TDP for better airflow and space for peripherals.

There isn't a direct setting to lower the TDP on the Z590i itself, but you can try adjusting power delivery or fan settings to manage heat more efficiently. Since you have a power meter, you might explore monitoring tools to identify spikes and optimize usage.

If reducing TDP isn't feasible, swapping it with an i3-10305t (35W TDP) would be a good option, as you mentioned. This would free up space and lower power consumption without affecting your NAS or other services.

Let me know if you'd like help checking compatible fans or configuring power management!

You can reduce power usage by adjusting the clock speed and voltage manually until you reach your desired power limit. Also, configure the BIOS settings to match your preferences, allowing you to set a maximum power draw of around 65W or even lower.

Thanks for the response. I'll review the manual and adjust the settings. Disabling some cores might help. David

Turning off the cores wouldn't cause any issues if you don't plan to use them.

Focusing on the i3's specifications means it will use the same amount or less than the i3 B, but power usage isn't the same.
