You're starting Dota 2 on your laptop with a decent setup but still experiencing performance issues. The hardware you mentioned is solid, yet the frame rate remains low at around 14 FPS. Consider checking for updates, adjusting in-game settings, or upgrading components if possible.

Consider upgrading to a new computer. That's outdated and poses security risks since Vista is no longer supported.

I frequently switch between hard drives, running Windows 10 Professional and this Windows Vista. I prefer Vista because of its appearance and I wanted to understand why others disliked it. In reality, I actually enjoy using it after a year of use.

Vista had problems before SP1 due to driver issues, and Microsoft prioritized low specs which caused performance problems. However, with a correctly configured system it worked well.

All configurations seem to be at their minimum limits? The iGPU won't handle much processing power?

I enjoyed the water effects, so I kept them on and used the original 1280x800 resolution. All other adjustments were turned down or disabled.

Yeah..makes sense... Though if Microsoft did things gradually it would have been a great OS..with that Aero effect and all.. Though while we're in the subject...they haven't increase the minimum system spec since then (2006)..maybe it is a good thing?

It's important to find employment now...still studying it's really disappointing how quickly technology evolves and devices become outdated in just a few years...

At the time Vista launched, hardware performed adequately; the focus was on enhancing compatibility, which impacted the OS's reputation. This machine is nearly ten years old and still features a very basic GPU (and a low-end CPU) even by then.
