Yes, anything above 150 killed my 7970s since they reached the VRAM limit. If you increase the texture resolution by 200%, it will consume 200% more VRAM, which makes sense.

Adjust the scaling preferences as desired in the options. Use alt-tab and verify GPU-Z or MSI AB for performance. Then configure it to stay below the Vram limit.

I never realized it was the reason for my occasional crashes on BF4. I assumed it was due to bad coding.

It will require a significant amount of VRAM due to higher resolution rendering. The target size of 2880x1620 at 150% of 1080p and 3840x2160 at 200% means storing each frame needs roughly double or triple the framebuffer memory.

I understand that. There are four 1920x1080 displays combined. However, 200% of 1080p equals 2160p.
