I tested my new processor during gaming and noticed it rarely reached its full 4.4ghz boost. After some checks, I saw it peaked around 80-90 degrees before throttling down to as low as 3600mhz. With a decent cooling fan, it even reached the maximum temperature and shut off completely. I’m confused because I have a good cooler and tried reseating it with fresh thermal paste multiple times. Even then, it still hit around 4.2Ghz overclock at 1.35v, but would still reach 88 degrees after a few minutes. Could the airflow be insufficient? Is there an issue with the AIO? Or is the cooler just not handling the heat?

Voltage is low and dropping. Lower it to 1,325 or below. Or use stock with PBO. Likely the optimal choice. This setup is modest and not great. It performs similarly to a small tower cooler.

I ran some bench tests and PBO scored around 1500, whereas the 4.2ghz processor got 1667.

The multicore score isn't the only factor. The voltage you chose is seen as too high because it causes silicon wear. However, the colling approach keeps your temperatures within acceptable limits.

Which release you're referring to? They can be quite troublesome, but maybe a 34 esports Arctic freezer would help.
