Yesterday my PC suddenly capped download speeds at 100mbps both ways. I assumed the issue was with the cable, so I swapped it out but it didn’t help. After testing another device, the connection worked as expected. I suspected dirty contact pins in the 2.5G Ethernet port, cleaned them with alcohol and a cotton bud, but nothing changed. I thought maybe a Windows setting had been accidentally enabled, but I couldn’t locate it. I tried changing the Speed & Duplex to "Auto Negotiation," realized it was already correct, updated drivers, and even disconnected and reconnected the Ethernet cable without success. In Task Manager there’s a "Network Details" section that appears to be the source of the problem—there’s an attached image showing the issue, but the 100mbps setting seems to have been disconnected and then re-established randomly. On fast.com I saw the speed fluctuate wildly from 100mbps to 700mbps and back, which is confusing. Any advice would be appreciated.

Apologies for the delayed reply; it remains unchanged. The limit stays at 100/100.

It seems your internet service provider might be limiting your speed because you're exceeding the "unlimited" limit. Do you have multiple Ethernet ports on the motherboard? Occasionally they include two separate Ethernet connections.

Apologies for the delayed reply. It seems I only have one device, a 2.5Gig port. I suspect the issue might be related to the port itself since my brother's is operating at full gigabit speeds while mine is capped at 100/100. I'm beginning to believe there could be a problem with the port. Thank you for your response!
