I have a 10900k, and the motherboard has a bent or broken pin. I can't clearly see the problem since I don’t have a magnifying glass. I tried using a pin to fix it, but the issue remains. If the Ram slots one or two are occupied, the computer starts up but doesn’t boot. My choices are either keep trying or switch to slots three and four. How severe is the situation if I only use slots three and four?
If the pin is connected to the memory controller, you should attempt to straighten it. If that's not possible, swap out the board entirely. Expect memory problems like applications crashing or games failing, or encountering blue screens while using it with the bent pin. It’s best to run modules in dual-channel mode—typically slots 2 and 4 or 1 and 3. Dual-channel operation isn’t available if the pins are in slots 3 and 4.
