Hello there, welcome! I just acquired an i9 9900k and was curious about its performance. After some initial booting, it hit 5000 MHz on certain cores, but after a few restarts and bench tests, it settled around 4700 MHz under load. It never returned to that peak again. I found out this is due to the 95-watt limit Intel set for it. I made a few adjustments to the motherboard and now it reaches 4900 MHz in Turbo mode, though it still doesn’t hit 5000 MHz.

I also noticed occasional spikes in voltage—check the screenshot you mentioned. My main question is: how can I keep this processor running close to its specs without overclocking? The official specs from Wikichip suggest otherwise.

If you reach 4900 cycles per second, the 100MHz won’t affect any measurable changes beyond standard test results.

4.7Ghz represents the total boost for all cores. 5.0Ghz indicates the boost per core. If your processor now reaches 4.9Ghz across all cores, you're exceeding its limits. Increasing power caps or run times also means you're pushing it beyond safe levels. The VID doesn't reflect the real voltage it's getting; it tends to be lower, particularly with the standard LLC settings.
