Addressing the lack of signal issue
Initially here are my details: CPU model R5 1600, GPU gtx 1070 aero, RAM Corsair vengeance lpx 2133mhz, DDR4 4GB, 4GB RAM sticks, PSU with fractal design, Effekt 500W, MOBIUS ASUS TUF B450 gaming plus with 250GB SSD.
I’ve tried several fixes: swapping RAM sticks into different slots each boot, changing the monitor cable to a different DVI or HDMI, adjusting monitor settings to DVI, reseating the CPU, replacing the motherboard, resetting the board, removing the battery from the motherboard, and even considering a new power supply. I also updated BIOS and got a boot kit from AMD, following their advice that my motherboard should match my CPU.
The monitor and cables are working fine. The issue seems to be with the old motherboard and CPU. I’m planning to replace the power supply, try an older CPU to test if it’s faulty, and possibly update BIOS. Also, I’ve confirmed PCIe connectors are connected to the GPU.
I’ve searched forums repeatedly without success in the past two weeks. What might be wrong? Could it be a dead CPU?
It's a 1600 with a B450 motherboard, there is no reason it should need a bios update unless the one on the board is completely borked, but then again OP has tried multiple boards. I'm leaning more towards the CPU itself. Depending on how the GPU was tested it could also be the issue, make sure to test it in a separate system to be sure.
I believe the issue might be with the CPU. The motherboard advertises compatibility with Ryzen 3000 models, implying older chips could be used without problems. It’s possible the BIOS is misconfigured. I’ll investigate that as well. Now I’ll concentrate on the CPU and consider getting a diagnostic chip for troubleshooting. Also, since my graphics card functions properly elsewhere, I’m puzzled as to why it wouldn’t on this system.
