Currently I'm preparing for a major upgrade from a 1660 Super to a 4060 TI. My main worry is my CPU, not just the hardware costs. I wasn't sure if the Ryzen 5 5600X would be sufficient, though it's powerful. I'm looking for a balance between performance and budget. If you have any other affordable CPU options that fit with the 4060 TI, please let me know.
This choice for gaming on a limited budget is likely the least valuable option. The Nvidia brand and its promotions are delivering strong returns.
I suggest opting for an Intel 13th gen or Ryzen 7000 series instead of a Ryzen 5000 series CPU in 2023. The 4060ti offers poor value; consider last-gen RX 6000 or RTX 3000, or the newer 7700 XT/7800 XT (released today). Any platform outside Ryzen 5000, 7000 or Intel 12th/13th gen will likely restrict new GPU performance, possibly due to PCIe 4.0 or insufficient single-threaded power. It’s probable your current CPU is hindering the GTX 1660 Super, which could gain 10-25% more frames with a better CPU even at its maximum settings.
