New PC recently built. I’ve faced several memory-related problems. Initially, I experienced frequent blue screens every time I booted into Windows. After a clean install of Windows, those issues disappeared. However, running Memtest86 or the Windows Memory Diagnostic still revealed errors, especially codes 7, 8, and 9, suggesting hardware faults. When I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic on a single RAM stick, it passed. Recently, I noticed my system would fail to boot due to the DRAM motherboard light even after removing the CMOS battery. By taking out one RAM stick, I was able to boot normally. Testing with two RAM sticks in slots A2 and B2 caused problems. My RAM is currently at 4800 MHz, and I’m using factory BIOS settings to investigate. I managed a successful 4-pass Memtest86 run with DOCP II enabled, but restarting later caused a failure and the DRAM module light to illuminate. Could you help identify what might be wrong? It seems my BIOS version 1222 is common, and several users reported similar DDR5 memory issues. I’m considering reverting to a previous BIOS version to stabilize the system. My hardware specs are listed above.

Are you sure there are no problems with XMP turned off? I usually recommend the Trident Z5 Neo for EXPO support with Zen4—it seems to function reliably. These troubleshooting posts often appear, and more frequently they involve users who didn’t know about EXPO and purchased regular XMP kits. You might be able to adjust the kit manually if you prefer. @RONOTHAN## could share further insights on the matter.

I faced problems with XMP settings being enabled and disabled. After restoring my BIOS, I successfully passed memtest86 with the second XMP profile active, but I still encountered issues shortly after posting. I’m writing this after reverting my BIOS settings. No crashes or failures have occurred so far. I plan to conduct memory and stability tests tomorrow after work. Regarding RAM selection, I’m not very experienced—I mainly chose based on price, capacity, speed ratings, and aesthetics. I’ll need to research EXPO more to make an informed decision.

I own a comparable CPU/motherboard setup with different RAM. Early on, I faced some unusual problems when configuring my new system—frequent lockups, BSODs, and Windows installation failures. I assumed something was fundamentally wrong. Eventually, I reset everything in the BIOS to its default settings, activated AMD EXPO (using the same BIOS version you have, 1222), and then reinstalled Windows. Since then, everything has worked flawlessly. So far, I haven’t conducted further testing, but all results have been perfect. As mentioned by GuiltySpark, confirm you purchased EXPO RAM rather than XMP; otherwise, you’ll need to manually adjust the timings.

I didn't purchase EXPO RAM but learned the lesson. I can still use DOCP profiles in BIOS, which is fine. I fixed my problems by reverting to BIOS version 0821. It took me some time to look into user reports for BIOS 1222, but I found many people with the same issue. It seems the problem was likely with an older BIOS, not my hardware. I've been using 0821 for about a month without any issues. Now I'm aware of BIOS 1223 and version 1410 in beta, hoping they're stable for updates.

It's great to hear you're on the right track! I've noticed some people have had success with downgrading their BIOS, and the latest 1224 version on Asus does mention "improved memory compatibility." Updating might be a safe option, particularly if your RAM isn't listed for support, though it seems your setup is compatible. I'd definitely avoid using a beta BIOS on a main system, especially with AM5—my experience suggests these issues usually resolve as support improves.

Maintain identical settings... post-bios upgrade, boot only using XMP at 5600MHz. Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6200 MHz
