I put in some questionable software that didn’t work as promised. It showed up in my task manager, slowing down everything I run. Now I can’t close tasks and they just keep opening again. Got any ideas?

Yes, I have an antivirus or antimalware solution set up. Are you using Windows 10?

No backups available—I think the system restore feature was disabled.

You have few choices here. Consider installing an antivirus program to clean or eliminate suspicious software, OR perform a fresh OS installation (It’s best to back up your data first).

Open the Settings icon in the Start Menu. Navigate to Update & Security -> Recovery. If needed, select "Reset the PC" and "Remove Everything." You’ll need to reinstall your programs, but try MalwareBytes first.

You can start in a separate system and clean the device, Bitdefender provides a solution named Bitdefender Rescue – it loads from USB or disk. The ISO file is accessible through their website.

Malware handled everything. Everything is back to normal. Thanks! I was considering installing antivirus software, but I didn’t know many options and the ones I did know weren’t reliable.
