This additional power port is likely for extra power delivery, supporting your overclocking efforts. It’s a good choice if you need more stable power for your components.

For extreme overclocking, you don't have to connect during regular use or standard boosts. If you plan to use LN2, you might require it.

It's an additional 4-pin 12-volt connection. Whether you require it or not depends entirely on your equipment and requirements. If you're trying to boost performance on a Ryzen 5, don't waste time. For a Ryzen 9, consider it only if your power supply can deliver the necessary energy. Many PSUs feature an 8-pin interface. However, if your PSU provides both an 8-pin and a 4-pin (12V, distinct from 6 or 8 or 6+2 PCIe power) connection, using it isn't harmful. If your PSU only supports an 8-pin CPU/EPS connector, stick to that. Avoid attempting adapters just to accommodate the extra pin.

It’s a 5950x model that can benefit from a gentle overclock with the DarkHero dynamic OC. Running on an RM850X PSU. Next time I’ll check for the additional four-pin connector.

I managed to connect, even though I didn’t want to speed things up.
