These are the CPU EPS connectors that supply power to the processor. At least one must be connected for the system to operate.

No, you cannot connect a 6+2 pin plug to an 8-pin connector. The pin configurations do not match.

The EPS 8 pin and PCIe 8 pin serve distinct purposes. The EPS pin is a 4+4 configuration, while the PCIe pin is separate.
