Or choosing to back a community that keeps growing instead of ignoring it every few years when a new title drops in a series. Of course, things vary by viewpoint. Maybe with some chance, EA will see that Hardline offers something unique from another studio and won’t be a simple copy for everyone. BF4 (and even BF3) is likely to have lasting value.

Meh, until they upgrade the engine for faster tick rates and fix the issue with servers running many game instances on low-end hardware, BF4 will stay broken forever. Frostbite deals with Sony and Microsoft’s cost-control rules that limit traffic, which really hurt BF3. The tickrate is built into the engine, so Hardline could work since it’s a more balanced title.

And by keeping up support means backing overly polished map-packs that don’t fit the gameplay, reusing assets repeatedly, and charging for work done months ahead as if it were brand new. A game shouldn’t rely on DLC just to keep its community active; it should focus on balance and regular updates to sustain players. I agree with your point about Hardline not becoming the next big Battlefield in the line of the series—so they’re trying to extend BF4 to retain your spending, whether you switch games or stick around.

Absolutely, I agree. I enjoy DLC since it lets me support my favorite games without spending a lot of money.

Still waiting them to release new version of Dragon Valley. (Never gonna happen because that map is HUGE).

It's hard to predict what you'll enjoy. The Bundar Desert was a standout map in BF history. I'm curious about other classic Battlefield maps.

If they valued the community, they wouldn’t be selling map packs. Doing so only divides it and ultimately ends the MP scene.

I don't even disagree with your assessment of Battlefield 4 DLC, but my point is that they may release content that puts BF4 at odds with their newer title. The nature of that content is irrelevant, though it's worth pointing out that it's probably the same DLC content they've been doing since launch. No, the community may not need the DLC, but EA isn't going to approve DLC for a game it considers "over." If they're going to continue making DLC that indicates they expect players are continuing to play it. And the game has gotten very good balance updates and fixes lately—more DLC indicates to me that that may continue past the Hardline launch.
