Swapped my 2x4 2666mhz Corsair Vengeance for a 2x8 3200mhz model since my Ryzen 5 3600 required more performance. The PC is now failing to boot. Fans on the CPU and case are spinning, and the small light next to the 24pin power connector is also active. The board model is B450 A PRO max.

Check if the LED is printed on the board or described in your manual. Have you tried reinstalling your new sticks? Did you revert to your previous ones to check if the problem continues? Are your sticks listed for your motherboard's compatibility group?

During deeper analysis the small indicators are labeled as "BOOT", "VGA", "DRAM", "CPU" and just one seems active, the CPU.

No, I didn't remove the automatic OC since the stock cooler wasn't able to keep up. Would it be possible to try removing the CMOS battery instead?

It's always possible, right? If it doesn't power on after a fresh CMOS reset, I believe the best next action is reinserting your new sticks or replacing your old ones to check if the problem continues

The process of swapping the sticks involves a tricky step: the first (or maybe the closest to the cooler) one can't be put in without taking out the stock wraith stealth, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to reattach the cooler after the ram is installed.

You might also want to reinstall your CPU if you take out your cooler to swap in your sticks. Make sure the stick fits into the right ports—most setups use 2/4 slots for dual sticks.

The BIOS reset didn’t resolve the problem. I’m not sure about reinserting the RAM sticks, so I’ll try using the original ones and see if it works.
