You might want to return the power supply as an RMA. The mismatch in pin count between the motherboard connector and the cable doesn’t seem insignificant.

It was only functioning properly after I made the change, right? The brother required an upgrade from a 650 to an 850 to enable compatibility with a 3080.

Return to swap the PSU you recently purchased; it seems to be faulty.

Which power supply you changed to? Did you repurpose any connections from your previous power supply?

Can you share a photo of the end of the CPU cable you're connecting? Those Corsair models usually include two CPU power cables, with one or both featuring a 4+4 pin design that can split into two 4-pin connectors. You should only use one if your board only needs a 4-pin CPU connector. If you're attaching the PSU end to the motherboard or using a 6+2 breakaway 8-pin cable, you might have the wrong one. Also, if the cable is damaged, try the other CPU cable.

I didn’t reuse any old cables since I believe that’s likely a risky move. I upgraded from a Corsair RM650.

The CPU cable appears to be the same as the one provided, yet I’m experiencing identical issues. It seems either the product is faulty or there’s something I’m overlooking.

The correct cable should fit properly on the motherboard and PSU, suggesting it might be a defective power supply. I’d replace it with a fresh unit. If you purchased it in person, bring it back to the store for an exchange. For online purchases from trusted sellers, you can typically return it for a replacement. If it was bought within the last 30 days, sending it back for a new one isn’t necessary.
