I use Jio Fiber at 30Mbps in my home hall. The room I’m in is about 7-10 meters from the Jio router, and I also have an old router. I want to connect it to the Jio router to extend internet coverage without slowing down the speed. The existing Wi-Fi extenders are causing a big drop in performance, so I’m considering this alternative.
btw, jio is a company that provides network plans, acting as the service provider rather than being a router manufacturer.
The problem with older routers is they rely on outdated protocols that are slower, have limited range, and are easily affected by interference. I’m not sure what you mean by “old,” though—it might be an AC router, which would cause only minor slowdowns. Considering routers are designed for Ethernet specifically, access points often handle similar tasks but combine them differently. Those older models were significantly slower than today’s versions.
