I've been using adblock plus for a long time, but I should note that I actually white list Linus' content such as these forums (and he's the only item on the list).

The advantages mainly focus on unrelated features like enhanced anti-malware and anti-tracking tools. You can also find extra lists for ABP, though I didn't like the Google influence and chose to test it instead. It seems to work well.

I decided to make the change after reading this article. I also use a script blocker named 'no-script,' which I first encountered in the Tor browser. It might be a bit annoying sometimes, but it effectively prevents JavaScript from running. Once you begin unblocking some of your regular or trusted sites, it performs well in stopping random scripts from executing in your browser.
