I own the MPG X570S CARBON EK X from the factory, featuring a monoblock CPU and VRMs—ideal for my needs. It’s built with water cooling, which I prefer to avoid. The motherboard model is based on the MSI MPG X570S Carbon MAX WIFI. I was looking for an affordable replacement unit on eBay to swap the heatsinks myself, but none are listed. Would using generic heatsyncs with thermal tape work? Also, any other suggestions? My CPU is a slightly overclocked 5950X, used as an unraid server with several VMs, including a powerful one for gaming and video editing.

It offers a variety of storage choices. Includes 4x M.2 and 8x SATA slots. Most are in use since it's an all-in-one server. I've thought about purchasing just the standard model, but I'm aware of its past issues and dependability.
Run it without heatsinks. The board has such an overkill VRM that skipping the heatsink should still suffice to power the 5950X, even when overclocked—especially with some airflow over the board. Or just opt to buy another one. Trying to make it air-cooled isn't worth it since you can usually find better boards like the X570 Taichi for around $100.
It looks uncertain, but I didn’t think about it that way. I might test it out while keeping an eye on temperatures. What gives this a higher MB in your view? I just looked on Ebay—they’re roughly the same price as $200. The Facebook marketplace isn’t available where I live.
I’d probably purchase a used unit with standard heatsinks and then list this one for sale. Or opt for an Alphacool Eiswolf/eisbear all-in-one liquid cooler that connects directly to the motherboard, using the standard CPU/GPU pump setup as a pump. They’re not too costly. The last models were around $100 new. It should offer a straightforward cooling fix.
