Hello everyone. I need some guidance on installing the new M2 NVMe drive. I already have two SSDs and a PCIe adapter from Akasa, but when I tried to mount the Kingston M.2, it didn’t appear in Disk Management. Could anyone explain why or suggest a solution? Please check the attached files and images of my PC and hardware.

Verify the UEFI to confirm your new storage device appears. Have you attempted swapping the new M.2 for the old one? Install the new M.2 directly onto the motherboard and the old M.2 into the adapter, then check detection. If the old unit isn’t recognized in the adapter, the adapter may be faulty; if the new unit still doesn’t show up, the problem likely lies with the new M.2 itself.

Also verify that the PCIe your adapter is connected to is turned on in the BIOS. Because PCIe lanes are scarce, it's typical to free up those lanes for the GPU and M.2 drives while keeping some slots idle. If a slot remains active, you can switch the PCIe bus speed to Gen4 or Gen3. In a final attempt, try your adapter on another machine to confirm detection. Good luck!

What PCI-Express port were you connecting to? It seems the second M.2 slot might be turned off if both are active. Note: the manual doesn't explicitly confirm this.

Verify BIOS settings. The slot isn't active or you lack available lanes. Reorder slots to confirm the drive isn't out of date.

Hey! Thanks for the messages. I just checked the expansion card and it’s working now—it lights up and has power. Still, the SSD isn’t showing up in disk management. Sounds like I might be missing something. Let me know if you need help further!

Based on the findings, a configuration with one RTX 3070 Ti and two M.2 NVMe drives should fully utilize your 24 available lanes.

No, my GPU is connected via PCI_E1 (16 lanes), PCI_E2 (1 lane) is restricted by the GPU itself, PCI_E3 (4 lanes) is currently occupied by an NVMe adapter, and PCI_E4 (1 lane) isn’t being used. I can’t utilize it for this task.

Only the GPU and the first M.2 slots are utilizing CPU PCIe lanes. The second M.2 slot is drawing from the chipset. It’s advisable to verify your BIOS configuration for any disabled PCIe ports, as this is likely why your adapter isn’t functioning now.
