I have a vintage PC for a home lab with two RAM slots (8 total). I also have some old laptop RAM scattered nearby, along with a few sticks of 4GB. There are options to upgrade or use PCI adapters so the extra laptop memory can be utilized. The Dell Optiplex 390DT is an older model, but it’s not impossible—just check compatibility and consider using a compatible adapter. Let me know if you need more details!

It isn't suitable for RAM use. While there were cards designed for RAM storage, they are uncommon and purchasing one would be significantly more expensive than buying a standard PC.

Back then, there were some unusual adapters, especially before the 2000s when ATX became common and even CPUs were on expansion cards—not modern RAM. PCI and PCIe were too slow for RAM use.
