Ad-Guard DNS vs Pi-Hole?

I've used Pi-Hole for some time but have encountered certain problems with sites like bungie and others that aren't too problematic. Switching my network to Ad-Guard DNS and enabling dynamic DNS worked well for blocking those sites, even though it doesn't block everything Pi-Hole did for good sites. I'm familiar with adding whitelists in Pi-Hole but find it difficult to manage on every site I visit regularly. I've been using Ad-Guard for a while without issues, so should I stick with Pi-Hole or continue with Ad-Guard for privacy and safety? Anyone else had similar experiences?

I began with Pi-Hole but noticed it wasn't performing as expected. It might have been due to the lists I was employing. I switched to AdGuard Home, replacing Pi-Hole on my RPi, and it functioned properly using the recommended DNS lists. For trips away from home, I opted for the free AdGuard DNS, though results were inconsistent on iDevices and Android. Eventually, I upgraded to a family plan and it integrated smoothly across all devices without conflicts.

I've started using it and immediately saw significantly better ad blocking across my network.

I used to rely on pihole, though it has some constraints. Now I've switched to Adguard on the router. It offers more features and a steeper learning path compared to pihole. I previously ran two pihole instances in Proxmox—one for the general network and another for my 'smart' TV. Both are now managed by Adguard, applying distinct rule sets.
