There isn’t a single site that contains all live tor websites. Your roommate’s bot likely gathered them from various sources, but it doesn’t appear to be centralized. Tools like Shodan have already explored similar tasks before, so you might find what you’re looking for there.

Did your companion use special symbols as well? I've noticed many Tor links include non-alphanumeric characters. Several platforms block pings, so trying to connect via TCP 80 or 443 might help. Still, crawling 62 and 56 addresses will likely be slow.

Some reliable TOR search tools exist, but be cautious—they don’t block all risky content. I steer clear of onion links unless I’m certain about their purpose. Even a small mistake can put you on unwanted watchlists.

There isn't a complete compiled list of all active TOR sites. You might speed up the process by moving the code to a multithreaded language such as C#, though be cautious—many TOR sites are illegal and accessing them could put you on a watchlist.

You won't receive a complete list of hidden services. This is because it's simply not feasible, just like trying to collect every domain name online. Trying to brute force would be extremely time-consuming and many servers might already be offline before you finish the scan. For targeted searches, the hidden wiki remains the most effective option.

Some experts note there are about 9,000 active Tor sites and 50,000 domains, which seems small when compared to the overall number. Wouldn't it be impractical to try every single one by hand?

Considering the Tor websites limited to English alphanumeric characters (63 options) and a 56-character limit, there are approximately 5.795 × 10^13 possible combinations. That’s a huge number!

The system efficiently processes the entire IPv4 range within a short time frame.

It focuses on IP addresses instead of domain names. Shodan needs to check 3.7 billion IPv4 addresses. Your friend is targeting about 58 billion domain names.
