Microsoft modified the activation process in Windows 11 when compared to Windows 10. Despite using a basic disk imaging method, I faced challenges activating Windows 10 on a laptop after first unactivating it. In Windows 11, creating a factory-new image of a Windows 11 desktop and restoring it worked well across multiple laptops of the same model. However, when attempting to restore an image from another laptop, activation failed consistently. This inconsistency appears specific to the Dell G15 5515 model, though I doubt it’s unique.

Successfully activated Windows 11 in this case. My recommendation is to use an admin account for activation and avoid activating Windows 11 prior to generating any disk images.
