On my latest AM5 configuration (details below), everything worked until I attempted to turn on expo. After saving and closing, the system wouldn't return to Windows and failed to boot back into the BIOS. The only solution was resetting the CMOS. Could you explain what might be causing this issue? The RAM indicator also lights up on the motherboard, yet the VGA light sometimes activates even when I'm inside Windows, despite the card being fine. It seems the hardware could be aging. Specifications: R5 7600X, G. Skill Trident Z5 32 GB, 6400 MT/s, Aorus B650 Elite Ax Ice 1070 Ti (upgrade planned).

sounds like an issue with the memory overclocking, EXPO/XMP as "standard" as it sounds it's still a sort of memory overclocking, it's possible that your memory doesn't correctly supports the MT/s and the timings set by the expo therefore the system can't POST. did you check compatibility of your RAM module with your motherboard? i had RAM issues in my build and checking the motherboard RAM compatibility the SKU i've bought wasn't in the list, it was 6000 CL30 but the sub timings of the memory i've bought were faster then the supported and it lead to inconsistent boots, memory not recognized and sometimes even system crashes. make sure the SKU of your ram is in the compatibility list for your motheboard because AM5 is pretty sensitive to RAM as far as my experience

Looks like I'll hold off until the BIOS gets updated for that RAM setup. Appreciate the assistance!

DDR5-6400 isn't straightforward to get. Many Ryzen 7000 and 9000 chips still can't reach that speed just by turning on EXPO. You'll need to fine-tune voltages or timings yourself, plus adjust the Infinity Fabric Frequency to Memory Frequency. My 9800X3D won't run DDR5-6400 stably—it often leads to app or game crashes and eventually BSODs. AIDA64 Memory Stability Test will likely fail within about ten minutes of running. I got caught up in a YouTuber's hype and influencer buzz, thinking it would work out-of-the-box...that's why I purchased a DDR5-6400 CL30 kit. I can manage to run it at DDR5-6200, though.

Yeah, I think I might adjust it later myself. In my bios it shows speeds like 24.0, 25.0 and up to 125.0, but I’m not really into changing a lot of things, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Activate EXPO and switch to Advanced settings. Identify the 'System Memory Multiplier' field and adjust it as needed.
