Activated XMP feature, causing significant performance dropdown.
Hello! I attempted to turn on XMP on my pre-built from ABS yesterday, as I had heard about it and wanted to try it out. After setting Profile1 for XMP in BIOS and boosting the RAM voltage, I restarted and everything slowed down significantly—almost double the speed. It took over a minute for anything to load or appear. I reverted the changes and powered off; after restarting, most issues disappeared but performance remained slightly lower than normal. Is this simply a situation where XMP isn't supported and I'm stuck at the standard DRAM speed of 2133 MHz? Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
Certainly enabling XMP can enhance performance when memory speed is the limiting factor. For others, improvements may be minimal or nonexistent. In some cases, it could cause instability, unusual behavior, or even potential harm to the RAM under extreme circumstances.
