Are there additional antivirus solutions running on the device? It's typical. Otherwise, consider installing a scanner such as MalwareBytes.

Open Command Prompt by pressing Win+R, enter gpedit and press Enter. Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender. On the right, verify "Turn off Windows Defender" and change it to "Disabled". Restart your system if necessary for the updates to take effect.
