Hi, I recently replaced most of my hardware—motherboard, CPU, graphics card, and RAM—and Windows 10 isn’t activated anymore. I received a Windows 8 installation disk but can’t install it on an HP M.2 SSD because the SSD doesn’t show up in the HDD list. Is there a way to run Windows 8 on a M.2 SSD? Thanks.

Do you possess the product key? Please retry if necessary. Have you reached out to Microsoft support?

Your Windows 10 license was likely an OEM copy instead of the retail version—those are linked to the motherboard and can’t be moved to a different device. You should try reinstalling the key. If that fails, contact the Activation Centre for assistance.

Thank you for your feedback. I attempted to reinstall the key and encountered issues. The troubleshooting steps didn’t resolve the problem, even though both keys were linked to my Microsoft account. Reaching out to the Activation Center seems challenging due to my location in South America. I also faced difficulties installing a Win7 disk onto an M.2 SSD because it wasn’t recognized by the HDD.

Being in South America might block your ability to reach the Activation Centre. You can locate your region on the provided list or choose the nearest country, then contact support. Stay calm, describe your issue, and mention needing assistance with key activation.
