HDD has partitions C and D. Win 8.1 uses the C partition. A reset will delete files from both partitions or just C? You can move files to D after a reset, but accessing them might be tricky unless you use external storage or cloud. It’s more than 50GB, so that could be a hassle.

Begin by performing a disk cleanup on your PC, then click "clean up system files" here you'll be able to remove outdated Windows installation files.

The PC launches into Windows RE, which clears and formats the partitions before setting up a new Windows 8 or 10 installation. After rebooting, the system restarts with the updated OS.
