Hello! I’m looking for an upgrade from my Amd Phenom to a FX processor. My motherboard is an Asus M4A89GTD PRO with USB 3. After some research, a BIOS update seemed to help it boot properly, but after a while gaming it would crash. I put the Phenom back in, but now my PC won’t even start—just shuts down after a few seconds. Sometimes it stays on, but then it powers off. I’ve tried resealing RAM and other fixes, but the issue persists. Do you have any suggestions or a solution for this problem?

What FX processor you installed is being checked against your motherboard's compatibility list. The board could have experienced a failure in the CPU power delivery.

What version are you using? Phenom II is noticeably quicker than the original and first-gen models, but your hardware only backs up the older generation. Be aware that all these processors are extremely sluggish, so even with a gaming setup, none of them can sustain 60fps anymore—mostly hovering around 30-50fps with inconsistent performance.

Indicates compatibility with an AM3+ board and asks about the installed CPU model. Notes that only older x1xx (Zambezi) series chips from the FX lineup are supported, not the newer x3xx (Vishera) models. Emphasizes the need for a BIOS update to the latest version for your board to function properly.

I understand you're referring to a motherboard that supports your Phenom X6 1090T processor.
