I'd follow his advice. Even though I don't understand the reason behind it, after getting accustomed to it it doesn't seem so bad.

I really prefer it with glass. It didn’t seem bad without it, but the glass makes it feel more open and less flat. It’s soothing—always having windows open, and somehow in 7 it feels less tight even though it’s essentially the same with aero.
