While testing from Steam or running a speed check, my downloads are much slower than usual (compare to the image below; the left one shows the same network on my phone). I haven’t experienced this before with the exact configuration, so it’s hard to figure out the cause. My system specs are: Windows 11 Pro 22H2, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, Gigabyte AX370 motherboard, 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM at 2400MHz, two 8GB Silicon Power RAM modules also at 2400MHz, Gigabyte RX6600xt Crucial BX 240GB SSD as boot drive, WD Blue 500GB, Seagate Barracuda 500GB, and a Silicon Power 240GB M.2 drive plus a WD Green 240GB SSD for storage. The ThermalTake RGB PSU is 550 watts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! -Polar

Temporarily skip the PowerLine AV adapters by linking the PC straight to the modem/router, then check speeds. If performance remains stable, the issue likely lies with the PowerLine AV adapters or possibly inconsistent electrical interference from your home wiring. It might be due to a device like a vacuum cleaner or microwave drawing heavy power elsewhere in the house. PowerLine AV works well when functional, but can become problematic otherwise.

Hi, thanks for your reply. It looks like connecting it directly made things faster, which suggests the wiring might be the issue. Could it be that simply plugging in the microwave now causes the slowdown? I just noticed the speed dropped after buying a new one... Thanks again, Polar.

The microwave might be the issue—confirm this by ensuring the PowerLine AV adapters are placed exactly as before. Disconnect the microwave from power and rerun the tests. Most problems stem from DNS, which accounts for about 99%.
