This checks your online performance, not just the direct connection from PC to router or modem. It may function even if your local link speed isn't the bottleneck—most cases depend on your internet service provider's bandwidth.

Consider a faulty coupler as the issue. Switch to a fresh, continuous Ethernet connection from the PC to the router. Also, check with your ISP for additional details.

I plan to contact my ISP later today once I have time. The cable connecting my NBN router to my main router is Cat 5e, but I’m using Cat 6. Once I discover the right one, I’ll install a new cable and ensure a direct connection.

The worst-case performance might be around 10Mbit, but it's typically closer to 100Mbit. If Windows reports a gigabit connection, the problem is unlikely to be the coupler.

I adjusted the port I connected to, and now Task Manager shows around 100 Mbps.

Yes, the coupler or bad cables are probably the issue.

Sure, I'll check for a cable that can handle the distance. The current NBN to router connection uses Cat5e, so a Cat6 cable would be more than sufficient.

However, the cost difference is usually minimal.
