Achieved a win for 10 pro between 1809 and 1909
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some frustration I’ve been having with getting my PC running at 1909 M$ prices. It’s always been a reminder that upgrading is necessary. My main PC, which runs on 1809, isn’t compatible with the higher version. After trying the Windows Update method, I reached 89% and then performed a batch file cleanup for safety. The final 20% still felt sluggish. I also tried the Windows Upgrade Tool, but it failed again—even after waiting hours before returning to 1809. When I downloaded the ISO, installing it under the user profile caused issues; the first load only showed the HWINFO monitor window and nothing else. After trying Ctrl+Alt+Del to log out and back in, the taskbar didn’t respond at all, and the system wouldn’t boot normally. I ended up forcing a restart, using Safe Mode, but it still locked on the task bar. Eventually, I reverted to 1809, which worked perfectly. Everything on my system—apps, drivers, even the Gigabyte LED MBOO software—was running smoothly. My machine is an i7 8700K Z370 gaming PC with 32GB RAM and a 1070GTX graphics card; it’s stable and performs well. I’m not sure if this is normal for my hardware, but it’s causing problems. If anyone has any tips or solutions, please let me know! Thanks.
When the release hit in 1909 I attempted an update. Functioned on one machine but not another. The second system would restart then lose progress and revert. Experimented with different solutions but none resolved the issue. Recently I tried updating the second machine again. Successfully upgraded to 1909 without problems. It may not be the most practical fix, just wanted to share my experience.
It assists and could improve itself with further updates over time! Thanks for the input!
