Achieved a solid 4.8 rating for the i7-4790K.
Hello,
my aim is to reach a consistent 4.8Ghz on the i7-4790k.
I own an Asus Maximus Ranger VII with 16 GB DDR3 1866 and a GTX 980ti.
Everything runs smoothly in liquid cooling.
After five hours of Prime 95, I faced no issues, whether using the official benchmark or the XTU/3D Mark tests.
However, while playing with the Cerec 3, I encountered a BSOD with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
From another forum regarding Windows 10, it seems CPU overclocking might be the cause.
If anyone can assist in finding a stable configuration, I would appreciate it.
Below is my current BIOS setup:

Thank you all,
for your help.
Adjustments from this point will likely require refining memory configurations and extending testing.
Check the provided link for Intel Haswell 4670K-4770K overclocking guide and consider uncore adjustments since you're reaching the maximum limits.
you wouldn't reach 4.8ghz on a 4790k at such low voltage, you'd need a very capable chip.
it might be possible to achieve stable 4.8ghz at 1.32v.
I'm sorry for the delay, but I've been quite busy =)
I believe I might have a lucky CPU =D
I worked on the cache voltage and multiplier, and with a cache speed of 35 and 1.2v, using a 1.293vcore has been perfectly stable over 12 hours of AIDA64.
I've tested it for daily use and there were no issues with gaming; temperatures stayed at 70 in AIDA and dropped to 63 after a few hours of continuous play 3, but it still caused crashes when playing division, not BSOD—just game crashes.
Anyone has any advice?
Should I try increasing the vcore?
