Hello, your question makes sense. I bought a new PC and Windows 10 separately, so I’m trying to install it using a USB drive. I’m concerned that this might spread viruses from my old laptop to the new one. Am I really worried? Installing via a CD would work but would require an external DVD drive. Thanks for your help!

Visit the Microsoft website to obtain the Windows Media Creation Tool. Locate the download for Windows 10 at the bottom of the page. You'll require a USB flash drive with a minimum capacity of 4 gigabytes. Simply click the provided link and complete the setup steps. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...tion-media

Sure! It sounds like you're worried about potential virus transmission from your laptop to your new PC via USB.

If you're worried about the USB getting infected, consider using Windows Defender or installing Malwarebytes. Once you're done, run the built-in security tools on your laptop, verify it's clean, then use the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable drive. After that, test your bug hunters on the USB to confirm everything is safe.

It shouldn't be impacted because the creation tool pulls data from Microsoft and keeps itself separate. For certainty, try another computer (be honest and do it on your own machine).

I don't have an option right now, but if I did... I'm not sure. Perhaps I'm just overthinking it, it could be clean.

I highly doubt the viruses on your laptop are advanced enough to infect a boot partition on a usb drive.
