Hi everyone, I just got a new Acer Chromebook CB3-431 running Linux and am upgrading from my C720. I’m looking for advice—anyone has experience with this model? I’m having trouble finding information like I did for the C720. Do you need to install custom firmware? Thanks for your help!

I haven't tried converting a chromebook to Linux before. The included MMC flash storage has been a concern for me. I'm leaning toward Intel processors because of the battery performance. Would you mind if I ask about using a chromebook instead of a pricier Windows laptop? Also, have you ever had issues with the MMC memory before? And can you replace or upgrade it? What about adding more RAM?

You can enhance the memory, but soldering skills are required. Most upgrades cap around 8GB. Watching YouTube tutorials shows the process is straightforward. It’s not intimidating. I suggest opting for a Windows laptop instead.
