Hey there! I noticed something unusual with my gaming PC. It seems like one of my machines is blocked from accessing anything on the network. I’ve set up port forwarding and placed the device in DMZ, but it still can’t reach external services. My LAN IP is 192.168.0.7 and the server IP is 192.168.0.17, which is in DMZ. I’m sure the host file is correct, showing the proper mappings. If you need further assistance, please let me know!

It seems you're wondering if a hosts file is responsible for blocking IP addresses and network access. You should verify that file sharing is enabled and ensure your server can reach the network for proper functionality.

What operating system is your server using? Have you enabled the firewall?

No, I didn't make any changes before it stopped working.

Yes, you can send a message to the server from your host. Likewise, the server should be able to respond to your host's requests.

When accessing from an external IP or domain, your router must support NAT loopback. Without it, you won't be able to reach that external IP.

They're on the same subnet, so it's just basic switching. Can you send a ping from one machine to another? P.S. Placing it in DMZ doesn't help if it's just an internal connection—remove it for better security.

The DNS update failed because the request timed out. Is the DNS working properly?

dns shouldn't cause issues unless you're using a local dns server for private domains. consider reverting to your previous setup just to verify.
