Access point outdoors
Access point outdoors
The installation is either in a conduit or direct burial. A standard 4-pair Ethernet cable can handle up to 100 meters, making 100 feet fully acceptable.
I've installed several outdoor-rated Cat7A 100-foot cables without any issues. A backup should be available, but it should remain functional for about five years.
Recommend a dedicated wireless access point with a focused antenna, akin to a point-to-point connection. This ensures optimal performance and stronger signal quality. Unlike omnidirectional antennas that radiate continuously in all directions, a directional setup concentrates power where needed. You’ll know precisely where the signal should travel, avoiding wasted energy and interference. Improved range and wireless efficiency follow from directing all transmission toward the intended area.
