I upgraded my system yesterday with Legion 5 Pro, an RTX 3070, a Ryzen 7 5800h and 32GB RAM. Today morning I tested it, and performance issues have appeared. At 2560x1600 with DLSS Balanced and High settings, I'm consistently hitting around 45-50fps, barely reaching 60fps. The difference between Quality and Performance modes is noticeable—even at low settings, the game looks noticeably worse. Initially, the game auto-set to a medium profile aiming for smooth 60fps, but benchmarks show it caps around 45-50fps. The CPU uses 25-35% of its capacity while the GPU stays at 99% during testing. VRAM sits between 6800 and 7400MB. To push past these limits, I'm considering Frame Generation, though it only offers FSR which reduces UI to half the refresh rate. Are there any issues with storage or game corruption?

Your 5800h might not be handling the workload well. Without a clean windows setup, it's hard to pinpoint the issue. This game is proving quite challenging for many users, especially at CPU-intensive 1080p settings. Check if you're limited by your processor according to PresentMon. The CPU/GPU usage charts should reveal this. You didn't specify the resolution, but DLSS won't help if the CPU struggles. Try basic fixes like DDU, removing unnecessary programs, freeing disk space, etc.

Game has an unusual setup, reaching 4K max while still hitting around 50 FPS. DLSS gives 720p at 85 fps, which feels like lighting and shadows stay fixed at that resolution no matter the screen size. This suggests NVIDIA’s current advice for developers is to render certain elements after upscaling to preserve quality.

I agree, this looks promising, particularly with RT enabled. The first open area is the village (which is two years prior), and it seems RT is being forced there. I didn’t have a chance to check what the RT disabled uplift would be, but I understand how flat the gameplay feels without it. Still, RT doesn’t seem that demanding compared to something like Cyberpunk. That’s why I set a 40fps limit with G-sync, and it runs smoothly. With DLSS Performance at medium settings, it should reach around 60fps easily.

2560x1600 display from Legion, tested with DLSS Q, B, and Performance settings. During gaming I noticed 20-35% utilization, and the clock runs between 4000-4350mhz (Performance Mode on my Legion unlocks CPU and GPU power). The FlyDigi BS1 cooler is set to Lv2, and the CPU stays around 65°C rather than exceeding 70°C, keeping everything stable. At Cinebench I achieved about 13k. I’m aware CPU limits affect performance, but this game doesn’t match typical titles—especially not compared to UE5 or multiplayer games like CoD.

I discovered something intriguing about this game. The consoles employ Dynamic Resolution together with an in-built engine upscaling (not FSR), and there are actually three modes on consoles—30, 40, and 60fps. Although I couldn't consistently hit 60fps, setting Dynamic Resolution to 40fps with DLSS Quality at 1600p gave me a higher resolution than without it, and kept 40fps stable all the time. It looks like whatever the reason is, running the game in manual settings (especially with graphics enabled) different from the console configuration often causes problems for proper performance.

Does this suggest the CPU has plenty of room to handle the frame rate while the GPU is pushing hard? It seems like even a 5090 struggles, which makes it hard to say there’s anything practical to do.
