Hi,
after reading many complaints on forums, I believe most people are familiar with the CPU-heavy performance issues Ubisoft created.
I upgraded to an i5-7600k and noticed some performance gains overall.
However, when I purchased AS Origins, I didn’t expect it to struggle on my PC since a friend runs it at 60 FPS with an i5-4690k.
That wasn’t what I anticipated.
The outcome was clear: even with low settings, I barely reached 40 FPS, and the inconsistency makes it nearly unplayable.
Checking Task Manager confirmed it’s completely CPU-bound. My GPU is essentially idle.
My question remains: how can this be, and what should I do to fix it?
Could you help me identify the problem more precisely?
Since I have a stronger CPU than the other person, I’m not sure what steps to take right now.
Here are my specs:
i5-7600k non OC
AsRock H100m DVS-R3.0
Rx 470 (OC)
8 GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 1803
AC Organizations 1.5.1
If you need more details, just let me know.
I hope someone can offer a solution.

Because it uses a very shitty DRM, and it's not Denuvo. That in of itself wouldn't affect performance that much. It's something else. Basically, the game has a DRM that protects the DRM intended to protect the game, and since that DRM on DRM system is very CPU intensive, it runs like ass.

Same here, I own an R5 1600 and AC Origins breaks it. I've noticed comparisons highlighting a more than 20 FPS gap between 8600k and 8700k. Total insane.

However, it doesn't clarify the reason for its normal performance on an i5-4690k.

No, and even if he did: The existing cracks continue to function with DRMs active, simply circumventing it.

It would have been better to choose an i7 7700 with more value than the h110m. In any case, the game is very demanding on the CPU, and many parts of the map severely slow it down. You need maximum frequency and threads to keep it running smoothly above 60fps, while an i5 7600K limited to only 4ghz won't be enough even with all cores boosted.

The i5-7690k seems to be performing well without any issues. The i7-7700 is a bit costly, but I have the i5-7600k for 150€.

VMProtect is another DRM available on AC Origins.
@taku1101
It's suggested to check performance in different games to confirm proper functionality. If it works well elsewhere, the issue likely stems from Ubisoft's development practices for PC titles.
