consider keeping windows 7 if you're past 2020, since you prefer it over windows 8.1 or 10.

Are you concerned about safety? Windows 7 remains functional beyond 2020, though its security is significantly weaker. For a more current operating system, consider Linux, macOS, or Windows 10.

You can now afford to understand its service updates since 2020, as most people will still rely on it beyond that year. Microsoft is benefiting from those users.

It seems like this applies mainly to big companies. Windows 10 also offers stronger security, thanks to its improved performance and stability.

Major corporations dominate the Windows 7 user base, though this applies to any system running the OS. Still, basic virus protection remains essential for overall security, regardless of whether you're using Windows 10. I’d argue that a well-behaved user is safer than a Windows 10 machine with reckless downloads.

It is only available for a fee. Your Windows 7 updates will cease unless you pay. You’ll receive them only through the link provided: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsof...n-desktop/. Considering this, we’re informing you that we’ll provide Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU) at a cost. There are numerous security vulnerabilities that standard precautions and antivirus software can’t fully address. Issues like remote execution over the network, JavaScript exploits, and weak encryption standards highlight the need for updated operating system patches. Check the Windows CVE list for more details.

It's not only your responsibility to pay; you also need to obtain VL from Microsoft. It's not just a flat fee of a hundred dollars annually.

It's just one option or the other. Switching to Linux might be possible, but I think you're unlikely to hack into a laptop that way.
