This might seem unrelated at first, but finding the right support can be tricky. I recently purchased an SSD, set up Windows on it, reformatted the previous HDD, and backed up all my files, including those from Mass Effect. I tried installing Mass Effect on the old HDD, but when I launch it, it doesn't recognize my save files and only lets me start a new game. Why is this happening? Should I move my save folder elsewhere, like Users/Documents/Bioware?

my initial idea would be to initiate a fresh game and generate a new collection of files. After that, proceed to transfer your content into the appropriate directory.

Yes, it is correct that starting a new game generates a fresh save file. You can then update the newly created game save with your previous save or profile to restore it.

I attempted it, began a fresh game, and it generated new save files in the docs folder. However, when I copied or pasted my previous saves into the new ones, nothing actually updated, and I couldn't load any of them, so I had to restart the game from scratch.
