I'm planning to buy a i5-12600KF (it costs around 1300 and half Romanian LEI) which I will very likely pair it soon or a little later with an MSI Z690 Edge DDR4 or Z690 Carbon DDR5 (still haven't decided yet). My question are: How perform the i5 12600KF with its E-Cores and P-Cores? AVX-512 on or off and why? Its power comsumption both idle and load? Does it run hot than it should? Both power limits recomended value? Will Arctic i35 A-RGB be enough with that cpu with stock settings? Pro & Cons? Thanks in advance! Edited January 17, 2022 by sylvik

Note that DDR4 and DDR5 aren't backward compatible. Also, consider checking DDR5 benchmarks since performance might differ from what you expect.

Consider using the Z690 Edge DDR4 WiFi with an i5-12600KF. The good news is you can reuse your DDR4 3200MHz kit from your previous build.

I’m not providing misleading data, but I can look up current DDR5 prices in your region. It’s becoming quite challenging to find these, but I believe you won’t lose much by sticking with DDR4. Performance isn’t drastically worse yet, and you might have more budget to allocate elsewhere.

Compare 12700KF with DDR4 and 12600KF with DDR5. The price difference is roughly that amount.

A DDR5 16GB 4800MHz system (single stick) in my country costs about 950 Romanian LEI, which is roughly $219.

The price difference between 12700KF and 12600KF is noticeable, and it exceeds my budget a bit. I believe 12600KF would suffice for my requirements. While 12700KF seems impressive and handles gaming and multitasking well, it goes beyond what I can afford. I’m not really into heavy intensive or creator work. Edited January 17, 2022 by sylvik

If 12700KF is expensive, then ddr5 and a board compatible with ddr5 are also costly. This leaves you with 12600KF using ddr4.

It's accurate. If my understanding is right, DDR4 remains superior and is expected to stay that way until DDR5 significantly improves, making DDR4 outdated but not yet obsolete.
