Hi there, I hope everyone is okay. I’m a bit puzzled about this. When checking VRR, it seems it requires HDMI 2.1, but when I look at HDMI 2.1, it mentions monitors with HDMI 2.1. Then in the notebooks, even the newer ones use HDMI 2.0b... It’s confusing. Can a PC work with HDMI 2.0b and a monitor that supports HDMI 2.1? Or is there something else I should know about the cables and device support? Thanks! :3

AMD FreeSync also works through HDMI 2.0b, but Nvidia G-Sync needs DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1. So it depends on the GPU you're using. Afaik there is no way to use "HDMI Forum VRR" on PC. (Open source solution used on consoles)

You require a high-speed HDMI 2.1 connection for your notebook, cable, and TV.

My LG OLED TVs support G sync with HDMI 2.0b, while the LG Nano Cell 85 requires HDMI 2.1 for proper operation. The Nano Cell 85 includes Freesync Premium which also works with HDMI 2.0b. It seems it comes down to the specific feature you need. The main added benefit of HDMI 2.1 was the ability to display 4k at 120hz.
