You've explored several AAA titles, including Far Cry 3, 4, AC Unity, and Tomb Raider 2013. Your question is whether players focus only on main story missions or also engage with side quests and other activities. So far, you've stuck to the main story missions—are you missing out on anything? Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback! Cheers.

It mainly comes down to the game I usually play—open-world titles that blend story and side quests, such as Borderlands 2 and its prequel.

It varies by game. Fun side quests appear in far cry titles, whereas assassins creed often features less engaging ones. In saints row 1&2, side missions are necessary to earn respect for story missions. This pattern is more typical in MMOs, though some MMOs have dull side content while others like stoneground offer more enjoyable options.

It varies by game. Tomb Raider was great, but I was mainly driven by the main plot, not side content. In some RPGs like Witcher 3, the side quests are really engaging and make you want to complete them. I need that same motivation—story momentum and satisfying rewards—not just points or achievements.

Others have pointed out that the experience varies greatly depending on the game. Some find it dull and want to move on quickly, while others invest a lot of time in every detail because they love it. Hope this clarifies things?

It varies by game for me. In Witcher 2, I focus on completing side quests. For Far Cry 3 and Just Cause 2, I aim to unlock or win outposts and areas. However, I don’t spend time gathering everything scattered globally—it feels less rewarding. In past GTA titles like Vice City and San Andreas, I used to tackle this approach, but now the scope feels overwhelming.

It varies by game and how much you enjoy finishing them completely.
