Hello everyone! I'm wondering about the overclock potential for an A8 7650k APU with an A68hm plus stock cooler. This is mainly to see what the stock cooler can really handle. I plan to buy an aftermarket cooler and a discrete GPU later, so I want to get it right from the start. The stock cooler is the newer, quieter model. At base settings, my APU runs at around 40°C, which leaves some room for adjustments.

Because that board isn't built for heavy overclocking, it's wise not to push it too far. Every silicone piece varies. Adjust one click at a time and monitor temperatures. It's better to keep thermal margins in mind with AoD:

TMs drop as temperatures rise. I prefer staying away from single-digit settings. Still, it's fine to use the whole setup down to zero. The CPU will likely start throttling then. However, you probably won't achieve much with the standard cooler.

Hi there,
I have the same CPU and motherboard (MSI A68HM). I added an extra RAM stick (Corsair 2x8GB = 16GB), adjusted the BIOS to detect "Dual Graphics" even if only the APU or integrated graphics are present. This unlocks an additional 1Gb, raising the APU speed from 1024Mb to 2048Mb. Next, I plan to upgrade the RAM speed, aiming for at least 1866Mhz, preferably higher if the motherboard supports it.
Next, I’m thinking about increasing the iGPU frequency from the standard 720Mhz to a higher range (100-200-300Mhz), but I’m concerned about the stock fan speed.
Option 2 is more complicated; I’d prefer trying Option 1 first, which is simpler.
Good luck!
