B450, B550, X570.. none of that plays any role in how well a chip will run, zero. Chipset does not determine board quality. Period. Additionally, there are boards with all chipsets that really great and really crappy power delivery, each board needs to be looked at individually. We don't want to perpetuate the myth that somehow just picking a certain chipset guarantees you a quality or performance level, its features only, for the most part. There are some absolutely laughable X570 boards that high end B450 boards would obliterate with a high end chip installed. There is a lot of confusion and misdirection going on in this thread and you're suffering for it. You don't have a temp problem, you don't have a VRM problem, and B550 on that MSI board is more than capable of fully utilizing a 5900x. You say you installed a the latest non-BETA BIOS. Looking at the support page for that board, that looks to be 7B85v1C. 7B85v1C is AGESA level 1.0.0.6 from June 2020, over two years ago. To boot with a Ryzen 5000 chip, you need a BIOS with AGESA level 1.1.8.0 or above. BIOS 7B85v1G2 is level 1.2.0.7. The simplest things are being overlooked and some people are going down rabbit holes.. Update your BIOS.

I won't debate, but I’d say my earlier 1700 model featured a B450 board that struggled right away when upgrading components. That seems pretty personal. VRM cooling matters for most Zen3 boards, though.

It looks like there might be some mix-up. The MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk Wi-Fi works well with a 3600 Ryzen 5 processor. However, it struggles with a Ryzen 9 5900X, freezing after a short time and displaying a black screen. The current BIOS version is 7C84v19, released in 2022.

I still think the Corsair RAM could be involved. Try looking up "Ryzen Corsair RAM crash" in the forums and check what others say. You'll notice some of my earlier explanations to people with similar problems, but a clear trend is emerging lately.
