You've triggered Windows Defender unexpectedly after installing the incorrect app. Try restarting your device to reset the alert, then check the app's permissions or uninstall it if necessary. If issues persist, consider resetting your firewall settings.

You might need to reset the installation and start over if things are really bad. Usually, using a scanner like Defender to remove some debris and Malwarebytes to assist should help you recover a significant portion. However, my usual approach is to completely wipe the drive and replace it, as that’s the safest way to prevent future problems.

It depends on the security of the app you installed. If it's extremely risky, I suggest using a paid antivirus such as Norton or similar top-tier protection. If you were in my shoes, I’d log out of all accounts with another device and reset passwords for critical ones like email. If you don’t have any premium antivirus and nothing vital on your computer (unless you’d have backed up important files elsewhere), I’d recommend completely wiping the system and reinstalling it, then adding a premium antivirus. For less serious issues, just download a premium antivirus or ask someone to do it—it’s a smart use of money.

Began adding .exe files to my photos folder, but they didn’t cause much damage since the antivirus blocked them. The problem arose when my Google account was accessed on my infected laptop this morning.
