Today I got ethernet installed in my house. However, after it was finished, I realized that I had one fewer ethernet ports on the router than I actually needed. I looked into ethernet splitters, but it seems like they all only let one device use it at a time. Is there a cable I can get that will let me use both devices simultaneously? Or no? Thanks!

This appears to be a recommendation for an Ethernet switch. You can find it on Amazon with the provided link.

This setup should let you connect both devices using a single cable to the router.

You can connect up to four gadgets to the switch, including one for the router, and they'll work together seamlessly.

Yes, you can use two port switches to achieve this.

Three ports aren’t ideal since you need to link the three devices plus the router. While there are 3-port switches available, they’re not very common and don’t provide a cost advantage over a standard 5-port setup. Currently, 5-port gigabit switches are available for about £10.

Avoid purchasing any hubs at all.

You need a network switch, not just a basic splitter. Most switches have at least four ports.

This would be referred to as a coupler.
